Olympic Vinyl Shelf
A vertical shelving piece that pairs vinyl storage with open display, bringing structure and warmth to a room without overwhelming it.
The lower cabinet is designed for records and daily use, with deep drawers holding about 70 LPs each and a full-width drawer above for accessories. Above, three open shelves provide space for books, objects, and evolving collections.
Subtly tapered uprights and chamfered edges give the piece a light presence despite its capacity, allowing it to sit comfortably in living spaces, studios, or listening rooms.
-
The composition is anchored by a grounded base and opened up by the shelving above, creating a clear balance between storage and display.
Tapered uprights and mitered edges reduce visual weight, allowing the piece to feel light despite its capacity.
Joinery is intentionally expressed rather than concealed. Subtle rabbeted cabinet connections and exposed dados at the shelves offer a quiet indication of how the piece is made, while the frame is assembled with half-lap joints that reveal end grain as a soft contrast at each intersection.
Proportions are carefully considered to accommodate record storage below while maintaining comfortable spacing for books and objects above.
